Our next Lates event takes place on Friday 6 July, 6pm-10pm, during the Make the Future Live festival in London.

The Intelligence Squared podcast will be chaired by actor, comedian and TV presenter Alexander Armstrong. Our topic is Smart Cities – and our panel of experts will discuss the technology that controls the urban world. Is it a boundless opportunity for plenty, or an encroachment of our privacy and liberty? Sit back and enjoy the debate, as Xander uses his trademark wit and charm to chair this fascinating discussion on the technologies that are shaping our future.

After the debate, watch a live acoustic performance from acclaimed singer-songwriter Lemar, who will take the stage to provide a perfect backdrop to the Lates session.

Actor, comedian and TV presenter Xander sprang to fame as 50% of the award-winning comedy act Armstrong and Miller. He’s also no stranger to facts and debate, having presented the hugely popular quiz show Pointless, and now has even broken into the classical music charts with his solo vocal album A Year of Songs.

While researching his family history for the TV series Who Do You Think You Are?, Xander discovered he was a descendant of William the Conqueror: a fitting badge of honour for one of the UK’s most entertaining polymaths.
